The Common Entrance Exams

I slogged to study,

Tests started from Year One,

It was just as important as all the tests,

In every year to Year Six,

‘Proper preparation prevents poor performance’

In West Africa then no other way was possible,

The Common Entrance Exams to Secondary School,

A chance to get there at eleven was coveted,

But no amount of money in your family’s treasure,

Made any difference expect to get slogging,

At the private tutor’s,

Or at the extra classes set up at your school,

What an elation when you open the envelope,

When you read,- PASS,

Other factors and God’s Grace helped too.
