Had a smile
Hard it was
To get them
As much as
Free supplies of tickles
Came abundantly
Nobody smiled
Nobody laughed.
The yarns for the sweater were in lovely colours, she was the best in the knitting club. People wondered how nimble her hands were for a 98 year old.
The majority of the knitting club consisted of her family whom she had taught. They had made sweaters for practically everyone in the village and guess what, they were all in similar colours.
Knackered was one of the words frequently used in my first years in England. It’s amazing what nostalgia it brings to mind. As new generations come, so do their language.
