Tap, tap, tap.

All the actors were ready, the stage was set, the audience were all sitting in the Amphitheatre.  The announcer came on to the stage to introduce the first act.  Well, not only was he the announcer but he was also the author of the play.

What was meant to be an oral high-concept blurb a of the play became a long oratory full of hyperbole about himself and how his first written play would make stars out of all the actors. The audience started to tap their shoes in disapproval and boredom.

He soon got the message and allowed the play to start, which turned out to be very good.  He was lucky the audience stayed to watch his play and not leave.
